Goa - a tiny emerald state of India, spread over 3,702 Sq.Kms. on
the west coast, with its natural scenic beauty, attractive beaches, churches
and temples, famous for its architecture, feasts and festivals and above all
hospitable people, has an ideal tourist profile. By all means, Goa makes
India travel an ever lasting experience.
Econced on the slopes of the Western ghats (Sahyadri ranges), Goa is
bounded on the North by Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra, on the East by
Belgaum, on the South by Karwar Districts of Karnataka, and on the west by
Arabian Sea.
Depending upon the interest, one can enjoy Goa holiday in its different
flavour. While some traveller's prefer relaxing on beach of Goa, others
prefer to get maximum excitement through almost alltime partying mood of
Goa.
Strung along Goas 60-mile
(100km) coastline, like a lace frill on the edge of a colorful, skirt are
some of the most beautiful beaches in the world- dazzling stretches of
golden sand edging the aquamarine expanse of the Arabian Sea. Goan beaches
are magnificent and you will find them extremely difficult to leave. Some of
the famous beaches of Goa are:
»
Anjuna Beach
About half an hour's drive from Panaji, famous for its well known 'flea
market' is the Anjuna Beach, beautifully surrounded by immense coconut
groves.

»
Baga Beach
Baga, 10-km west of Mapusa, is basically an extension of Calangute. One
interesting fact about Baga beach is that, even the locals are unable to
decide where Baga beach ends and from does it begins. Lying in the lee of a
rocky, wooded headland, the only difference between this far northern end of
the beach and its more congested centre is that the scenery here is
marginally more varied and picturesque. The old red tiled fishers houses
behind the dunes have long been swamped by gaudily lit bars, Tandoori
terrace restaurants and handicraft shops, which makes it perfect place to
cool in the nights.
»
Benaulim Beach
2 Kms. further ahead from Colva is Benaulim. This is the spot where the
shaft of Parasurama fell to earth, known in Sanskrit as Banali and later
corrupted by the Portuguese to Benaulim.
»
Bogmolo Beach

Close
to the port city of Vasco Bogmalo, another ideal beach clean and not too
crowded, the water reasonably safe for swimming, and plenty of places to
eat, drink and shop at. The Bogmalo Oberoi hotel is situated on this beach.
»
Calangute
World's loveliest and most famous Calangute beach just 16 kms. from the
capital city of Panaji is the most popular destination for domestic and
foreign holidayers in Goa.
